閉じられながらも無限に開かれた「金網の間（MA）」として人々の創造性と感性を解き放つ空間装置。
光の霧ー金網の間(MA)
「金網の茶室」は、ひし形金網という工業素材を用い、茶室という伝統空間を再構築した試みである。
金網という素材は、線と空隙が織りなす巧みな構成によって成立し、線種、線径、編み目の密度、色彩に至るまで無限の組み合わせを孕み、それぞれが光と影を生み出し、視線や空気の流れを繊細に制御する。そこには、素材が空間を超えて感覚へと作用する力が宿っている。
金網を幾重にも重ねることで、そこには「モアレ」と呼ばれる視覚的干渉が現れ、静謐さと躍動感が共存する「光の霧」の揺らめく空間が姿を現す。
体験者の位置や視線の角度に応じて、金網の立体的な重なりが変化し、透過光と反射光が複雑に干渉し互いに共鳴しながら空間を巡り、有機的で神秘的な光のレイヤーを創出していく。視線の角度によってはダイナミックに、あるいは微細に変化し、その変化が生み出す煌めきと陰影に富んだ豊かな表情を感じられるものとなり、移ろいゆく多様な光の状態が現れている。
茶室という空間は、元々「囲い」としての閉じられた小宇宙から出発した。精神を澄ませ、感覚を研ぎ澄ます場所。
その原初的な概念を継承しつつ、金網の光のレイヤーが織りなす「金網の間(MA)」として、神秘的な輝きと深い奥行きを内包しながら、静寂と動的な視覚体験を共存させる。閉じられながらも無限に開かれ、物質的な境界を超えた、人々の創造性と感性を解き放つ空間装置の実現を目指した。
- Living Resonance of Light and Mesh -
Wire Mesh Teahouse is a reimagining of the traditional space of the Japanese teahouse reconstructed through the industrial material of diamond-shaped wire mesh.
Wire mesh as a material is formed by a sophisticated composition of lines and voids. Variations in wire type, thickness, weave density, and even color yield endless combinations. Each produces light and shadow, delicately controlling sightlines and airflow. In this lies the power of the material to act not only upon space but directly upon the senses.
By layering wire mesh upon wire mesh, a visual interference known as moiré emerges, revealing a shimmering environment, a Luminous Mist, in which serenity and dynamism coexist.
Depending on the viewer’s position and gaze, the three-dimensional overlaps of mesh shift. Transmitted and reflected light interfere and resonate with one another, circulating through the space and generating organic, mysterious strata of light. The experience transforms dynamically or subtly according to one’s angle of view, offering a richness of sparkle, shadow, and expression that unfolds as a constantly shifting spectrum of luminous states.
The Japanese teahouse has always been conceived as an enclosed microcosm, a place to clear the mind and sharpen the senses.
While inheriting this primal concept, Living Intervals (MA) of Light and Mesh reimagines it as a space woven from luminous layers of mesh, embracing both mystical radiance and profound depth, uniting silence with dynamic perception.
Though enclosed, it is infinitely open, transcending material boundaries. It aspires to realize a spatial instrument that releases creativity and sensitivity, awakening the imagination through the living resonance of light and mesh.
