Through freely layered compositions and open-ended arrangements,
it generates a landscape imbued with the memory of nature, inviting people to discover new relationships with space, place, and one another.

This project was developed in collaboration with a paint company renowned for its expertise in gradational coating techniques. Drawing inspiration from the scenic landscape surrounding the site, the design seeks to resonate with the generative forces of nature that have shaped the nearby terrain, creating an interior environment and furniture system imbued with the primal energy of the earth.
The colors are derived from the tranquil waters of the Seto Inland Sea and the geological presence of Sensuijima Island. Based on these hues, the furniture pieces are given the layered colors and rugged textures of coastal rocks and eroded landforms. As they are stacked, dispersed, and arranged throughout the space, they form a landscape-like composition―part furniture, part topography.
Rather than prescribing a fixed way of use, the project allows people to discover their own places within the space. The seemingly random arrangement of furniture generates diverse territories for sitting, gathering, pausing, and moving. Through this open configuration, the space becomes a living field in which human activity continuously renews the landscape.
Here, furniture is not treated merely as an object, but as a fragment of terrain. Each piece carries the memory of water, stone, and earth, while the entire composition evokes the moment when natural forces rise, flow, diffuse, and settle into form. The project is an attempt to translate the movements of water and the uplift of the land into a spatial experience―one where color, texture, body, and environment resonate as a single, evolving landscape.
